Student and Parent Testimonials
We would highly recommend Leah Bernstein’s clarinet studio! Our daughter Havely studied with Leah during the latter half of her high school years. Leah’s direct, explicit instruction helped Havely grow in areas of intonation, technique, and artistic expression. These areas of growth ultimately led Havely to serve as principal chair of her high school symphonic band, participate in both regional and state bands, and receive high ratings in both the regional and state solo festivals, including a perfect score at her final state solo festival. Studying with Leah has given Havely the confidence to continue clarinet in both marching and concert bands at Kansas State University. Thank you, Leah!

Leah has been an outstanding influence on Sarah, significantly improving her as a player. Under Leah's guidance, she has learned to read and play music proficiently. Leah has been an exceptional instructor for Sarah. During Leah's three years of working with her, Sarah has been thoroughly prepared for all-state auditions and solo festivals. She has excelled, earning chairs in the all-state band and achieving high scores in solo festivals, all thanks to Leah's effective teaching methods. Leah has provided Sarah with the best tools for success and continually challenged her to reach her full potential as a musician.
We have loved having Leah as our instructor!

My daughter started taking private lessons with Leah when she started band in 5th grade and continued until she graduated from high school this past spring. Leah helped her develop a solid foundation when she was young, which led to her being successful in high school. Leah’s knowledge and dedication were key in preparing my daughter for high school symphonic band auditions, as well as district and state band auditions. She also provided invaluable guidance for solo performances in the solo and ensemble festival.
Despite my daughter’s busy schedule, Leah always managed to keep her engaged and motivated. Their personal connection made the lessons even more enjoyable and productive. Leah knew when my daughter needed to be pushed and when she just needed to take a step back and have some fun playing duets or holiday songs. I highly recommend Leah to anyone looking for a passionate and skilled clarinet teacher.

Our daughter’s clarinet skills grew tremendously under Leah’s guidance! Leah encouraged her at all levels of development as a musician. Her teaching style was encouraging and appropriate for our daughter’s skill and maturity. They had a lot of fun every week during lessons, not only playing and perfecting the music but laughing and talking about all kinds of things, including school and Harry Potter. Leah exposed her to the standard clarinet repertoire, and her guidance didn’t stop at playing the instrument. From new mouthpieces to cases to a new clarinet, Leah offered guidance on upgrades and accessories. The result was a better instrument with a richer tone that inspired our daughter to work even harder to improve. Thanks to Leah’s guidance, our daughter was a repeat participant in the Kansas John Philip Sousa Honor Band and the Kansas City Youth Symphony. Leah’s guidance helped to prepare her for auditions and, we believe, made our daughter more competitive. Leah challenged her and pushed her to reach the next level. Today, our daughter is a clarinet performance major at the University of Kansas.

We highly recommend Leah Bernstein for private, one-on-one instrument lessons. Leah was our son’s private music instructor from fifth grade through his senior year in high school. His progress and aptitude were exponentially greater than had he just had lessons in school, resulting in his making local, district, and state honor bands, serving as first chair for three years in high school, building his music skills in not just his chosen instrument but others, and serving as drum major his senior year. Leah’s flexibility in scheduling and adjusting to our son’s goals was greatly appreciated, and he considered her as much a friend as an instructor. As a result of Leah’s impact on developing our son’s love of music and performing, he is now pursuing a degree in music therapy.
