Studio Policy

Studio Goals

Private lessons are designed to support the student’s growth as a well-rounded musician. Together, we will work toward the following goals:

  • Technical Development: Build the foundational skills necessary for musical expression and creative performance.

  • Musical Literacy: Improve listening skills, critical thinking, and the ability to evaluate their own musical skills and performances.

  • Performance Skills: Strengthen performance ability, practice strategies, goal setting, and self-assessment.

Student Expectations

To ensure productive and enjoyable lessons, students are expected to:

  • Arrive fully prepared for each lesson with:

    • All required instruments and accessories are in proper working condition.

    • All assigned music and exercises from the previous week.

  • Practice consistently. A recommended daily practice time will be discussed during lessons. Regular practice ensures meaningful progress.

  • Communicate openly with the instructor about any questions, challenges, or concerns that may arise.

Required Materials

All students must have the following:

  • A clarinet, mouthpiece, and ligature in good working condition

  • A minimum of four playable reeds

  • A music stand for home practice

  • A metronome (an inexpensive model or app)

  • A tuner (required for students with more than two years of experience; app or physical tuner)

  • Any sheet music or method books assigned by the instructor

Note: I understand music materials can be costly and will make every effort to help you find affordable resources whenever possible.

Tuition & Payment

Tuition is billed monthly and reflects a flat rate based on an annual minimum of 44 guaranteed lessons. Weeks without lessons (due to holidays, illness, or teacher performances) will be communicated beforehand.

  • Invoices are sent via My Music Staff and can be paid online.

  • All payments are non-refundable.

  • Repeated late payments may result in dismissal from the studio.

Withdrawal Policy:
To withdraw from the studio, written notice must be submitted via email at least two weeks in advance. If notice is received after this deadline, students may attend the remaining paid lessons for that month; lessons will cease the following month.
